The Rodnik Band brand is the creation of Scottish born, London
based designer Philip Colbert. The presentation of the label is via an ironic
pop band, in fact, the designer writes songs about each collection which are
played during the official runway show!
His Pop Art collection is a series of conceptual
object dresses, some amusing and others outrageous featuring a variety of
objects from cans of soup to the Beefeaters of the Tower of London! Wildly
theatrical and tremendous fun, nothing is too bizarre for this avant-garde
designer.
His inspiration is British punk and the words of
Marcel Duchamp which he interprets in his Urinal dress, a design intended to be
accepted in the spirit of fun. All of the handmade prints on the dresses are
developed by the designer himself who states that his pieces ‘walk the humorous
line between fashion and art.’ Irreverent and wacky and highly controversial,
his collection is an alternative, tongue in cheek look at the lengths to which
fashion can go today!
